Abstract
The method of cuttings (English Cut-up) invented in the early twenties by the French poet dadaist Tristan Ttsara was later finished and significantly modified by the Canadian artist surrealist Brayon Gaysin and his friend American writer William Burroughs. The knowledge of bases of this technique which is based on the principle of a collage and casual actions gives the chance of understanding of the style in which many literary works of beatniks, in particular Burroughs's novels “A naked breakfast”, “The soft car”, “The ticket which burst” and “Nova Express” were created. Later Burroughs and Gaysin experimented with audio recordings and video series and such plates as “Call me Burroughs” (1965), “Dead City Radio” (1990) and the album “William Burroughs: the best” (1997) let-out by Mercury Records after the death of the writer appeared. All this had essential impact on the development of experimental and electronic music, and also of a cinematograph.
