Abstract
The plastic surgery community is saddened by the untimely loss of Dr. Nicolas Guay, a talented Canadian microsurgeon who spent time training in both Canada and the United States, where he made lifelong friends and admirers. Dr. Guay was born in Ottawa to a prominent judicial family. His love, however, was sports and medicine. In his youth, he played baseball, golf, and competitive junior hockey, seeing many teammates going on to careers in the National Hockey League. He went on to medical school and training in plastic surgery in Montreal. Deciding to specialize in microsurgery, he completed his fellowship training with Dr. William Shaw at the University of California, Los Angeles, working with Drs. Andrew DaLio, Malcolm Lesavoy, and James Watson, as well. After graduation, Dr. Guay joined the Division of Plastic Surgery of The Ottawa Hospital in November of 2000. There, he created the institution’s first breast cancer reconstruction team. The volume and quality of the work accomplished by the team brought it national attention and led to the creation of the Mentor Breast Cancer Reconstruction and Microsurgery Fellowship Program a couple of years later. Dr. Guay served as director of the fellowship from 2006 to 2013. He also developed the Center of Excellence in Single-Stage Breast Reconstruction, so that plastic surgeons from across Canada could visit The Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Guay gave numerous national and international presentations discussing breast reconstruction (single-stage autologous as well as implant based), ways to improve efficiency in the operating room, and surgical education. He was the creator and lead physician behind a national breast reconstruction patient education website, www.breastreconstructioncanada.ca. The first of its kind in Canada, the website offers patients an opportunity to download a collaborative breast reconstruction information document, select their breast reconstruction option, and find a surgeon in their region who offers their preferred option. Dr. Guay served as president of the Group for the Advancement of Microsurgery in Canada from 2005 to 2007. Before his passing, Dr. Guay was the corporate chief of surgery and medical director of surgery at the William Osler Health System, in the Greater Toronto area. He is survived by his wife Tania, an accomplished anesthesiologist, two loving daughters, and friends and colleagues around the world.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
