Abstract
The process of modern occupation, which has been occurring in the Cerrado biome since the 1970s, due to the discovery of new technologies that allowed the reduction of soil acidity, together with the intense investments and incentives granted by the state and federal governments, triggered a process of conversion of the original vegetation, which has been replaced very quickly by the practices of agro-export monoculture and in recent years, the incessant search for greater profits has made agribusiness study techniques that maximize profits, for this purpose, seeks to produce at different times of the year. In this way, agricultural practices were modernized and using the technique of irrigation, with the intense appropriation of water resources, called agro-hydro-business, mainly by central pivot sprinkler type, has leveraged production and as a consequence, profits were maximized. However, the exacerbated increase in this practice has caused a number of negative environmental impacts in the Cerrado biome and as a consequence, in its phytophysiognomies, with emphasis on the Vereda subsystem, an environment that, when preserved, is of great importance for water balance. In recent years, that system has been replaced by reservoirs that intended to supply the central pivot. Therefore, the present work aimed to show the expansion of the central pivot agro-business in the State of Gois since the first units in the first half of the 1980s to the year 2016. It also sought to demonstrate the spatial distribution of the central pivot in the Counties and fifth-order hydrographic basins in the State of Gois in the year 2016. Finally, the main contribution of the reservoirs built to supply the central pivot was to quantify the degradation of the Vereda subsystem. In order to reach this objective, the following methodological procedures were used: bibliographic review, field research, GIS data in the vector format pivot supply in the degradation of the Vereda subsystem from the Agroecological and Economic Macrozoning of the State of Gois; original scale of 1: 100,000; LANDSAT -MSS satellite image dating from 1982; LANDSAT -TM dating from the years 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2001; In addition to the Resourcesat -1 image dated 2016. The research revealed a continuous expansion of the central pivot agro-business in the territory of the State of Gois, with the first two units being installed in the year 1982 and in 2016 there is a total of 3244 central pivot units installed and distributed by 151 Counties in Gois. This vertiginous increase, without due inspection and environmental planning, has caused serious negative impacts on Vereda's PPA (Permanent Protection Area). This fact occurs because the reservoirs, which are used to supply the pivots, are built on Vereda's environment, leading to death. Field work revealed that of a total of 50 randomly selected sites for visitation, 44% were built in a Vereda environment. As a result, it is necessary to review the occupation process that has been submitted to these areas, seeking their preservation and safeguarding them, so that they fulfill their important role of environmental protection and balance of water resources.
