Abstract
Au sein d’un milieu carcéral se caractérisant par une vie en communauté permanente, l’intimité s’avère être une problématique importante et complexe. Cependant, celle-ci est bien souvent déconsidérée par la littérature, particulièrement dans le cas des hommes détenus dont le besoin d’intimité ne semble pas compatible avec la performativité de genre attendue dans un environnement où l’hypermasculinité règne. En recourant au concept de « tactique », cet article a pour objectif de comprendre les marges de manœuvre que déploient les hommes incarcérés afin de (re)construire, par la négociation quotidienne de l’espace carcéral et des objets qui le composent, une intimité qui compte. Basé sur des entretiens semi-directifs menés auprès d’hommes incarcérés au Québec, cet article montre la dialectique, entre intrusions aux origines diverses (institutionnelles et individuelles) et tactiques multiformes (individuelles ou collectives), au centre de laquelle les personnes détenues tentent de préserver leur bulle intime.
