Abstract
Reçu très jeune au service de Marguerite de Lorraine, Pierre Perrin (ca 1620-1675) succède en 1653 à Vincent Voiture comme introducteur des ambassadeurs auprès de Gaston d’Orléans. Poète français, poète latin, traducteur de l’Énéide de Virgile, inventeur de « paroles de musique » pour les compositeurs de la Cour, librettiste d’opéra, créateur en 1669 d’une académie de poésie et de musique, qui deviendra en 1672 avec Lully la célèbre Académie royale de musique, Perrin ne pouvait que plaire au duc par son goût et sa connaissance de l’Antique ‒ plutôt des diverses Antiquités, grecque, latine et hébraïque ‒ et par son engagement comme théoricien à créer un nouvel art lyrique s’inspirant à la fois des Anciens et des Modernes.
