Abstract
Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda öğrencilerin kitap ihtiyaçları çoğunlukla vakıf kütüphaneleri aracılığıyla sağlanmıştır. Bu nedenle kuruluş yıllarından itibaren vakıflar yoluyla kütüphaneler açılmıştır. Tanzimatla birlikte İstanbul’da hızla yaygınlaşan bu tür kütüphaneler zamanla taşraya da yayılmıştır. Özellikle II. Abdülhamid döneminde devlet ileri gelenleri tarafından taşra kentlerinde kütüphaneler kurularak kitaplar vakfedilmiştir. Beşiktaş Muhafızı Yedi-Sekiz Hasan Paşa da memleketi olan Çorum’da yaklaşık dört yüz yirmi adet eserle Ulu Cami bahçesinde bir vakıf kütüphanesi kurmuştur. Bugün yıkılmış olan kütüphane ve vakfedilen kitaplarla ilgili detaylı bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Özellikle vakfedilen kitapların sayısı bugüne kadar yüz yetmiş olarak ifade edilmiş, kitapların da bir incelemesi yapılmamıştır. Hasan Paşa Çorum’daki vakıf kütüphanesini ilk olarak dört yüz yirmi iki eserle kurmuş, sonradan desteklemeye devam etmiştir. Bunun dışında Paşa’nın vakfettiği eserler incelendiğinde O’nun Çorum’da adeta bir medrese kütüphanesi kurduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Bu çalışmada Hasan Paşa’nın vakıf kütüphanesi incelenerek hem kütüphane ile ilgili belirsizlikler ortadan kaldırılacak hem de Hasan Paşa’nın düşünce dünyasına bir katkı sunulacaktır.
