La pandémie de Covid-19 a eu un impact significatif sur la vie des gens. L’un de ces impacts peut être vérifié dans le diagnostic d’autres maladies, en particulier le cancer. Problème: Quel a été l’impact sur le diagnostic des nouveaux cas de cancer dans la région couverte par un service de pathologie dans le sud du Brésil pendant la pandémie ? Objectif général: Évaluer s’il y a eu une diminution du nombre de diagnostics de cancer dans un service de pathologie du sud du Brésil pendant la pandémie. Méthodologie: Nous avons analysé les rapports de cas réalisés dans les Laboratoires du Groupe Infolaudo, au cours des premiers mois de la pandémie (avril et mai 2020) et comparés aux mêmes mois de 2019, afin de mesurer l’impact de la pandémie sur le diagnostic du cancer dans un Service de Pathologie du sud du Brésil. Résultats: En comparant les périodes d’avril et mai 2019 avec la même période en 2020, une diminution de 34,2% des procédures pathologiques a été remarquée. Certains types de cancer, comme le côlon, l’œsophage, le sein et la prostate, ont connu une diminution significative des diagnostics, soit 19,7 %, 45 %, 18,2 % et 37,7 %, respectivement. Conclusion: Avec la fermeture de nombreuses cliniques et cliniques aux premiers stades de la pandémie, il y a eu une diminution des diagnostics de cancer dans les laboratoires étudiés.
