Abstract
Em um contexto de crise alimentar, poluição ambiental, crescente conscientização da responsabilidade social e sustentabilidade, vem crescendo a busca por produtos locais e orgânicos adquiridos por meio de feiras locais. Diante deste cenário, este estudo buscou analisar os aspectos em relação à sustentabilidade ambiental, social e econômica identificados junto aos expositores de produtos alimentícios em feiras que fomentam a economia local na cidade de Montreal, Canadá. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas realizadas pessoalmente e observação participante. Nos resultados, foram identificadas as principais práticas sustentáveis: produção de alimentos orgânicos sem a utilização de produtos químicos, redução de desperdícios e utilização de embalagens que não agridem o meio ambiente. Em relação à sustentabilidade social, foi identificado que as feiras estreitam relações entre produtores e clientes, criam vínculos e possibilitam a troca de informações. Em relação à sustentabilidade econômica, o estudo mostrou que os clientes valorizam o fato de os produtos vendidos na feira serem locais. Esses resultados são importantes para o desenvolvimento sustentável da região, o estabelecimento de relações socioculturais e a promoção do bem-estar social.
