Cet article présente une synthèse des résultats d’une recherche qui a analysé les perceptions d’élèves du secondaire au sujet de la diversité sexuelle et de genre. L’étude de cas qualitative a été menée auprès de 24 participant.e.s (âgé.e.s de 17 à 18 ans) provenant d’une école secondaire du Grand Vancouver. L’analyse de leurs discours a révélé que leurs perceptions avaient tendance à réaffirmer des visions du monde hétéronormatives et cisgenres, à normaliser la diversité sexuelle et de genre, et à minimiser l’impact des idéologies homophobes et transphobes en tant que formes de discrimination systémique. Les participants garçons étaient également plus susceptibles de défendre des conceptions binaires et biologiques du genre, et de rejeter l’identité trans, suggérant un lien entre la performance sociale de la transphobie et la construction de la masculinité cishétéronormative. À partir de ces résultats, une série de huit axiomes sont présentés dans le but d’orienter le développement d’une pratique pédagogique queer et de contribuer ainsi à la création de salles de classe véritablement équitables, inclusives et critiques.
