Abstract
A imagem da cidade não se traduz apenas pela arborização de avenidas, ruas, edifícios e monumentos históricos, mas também pelas praças. As praças são símbolos da história da humanidade desde ágora grega, passando pelo fórum romano às praças modernas do período contemporâneo. Esses espaços apresentam diferentes funções que se projetam por meio das práticas de sociabilidade de lazer vivenciadas por diferentes grupos sociais. Além disso, possuem configurações e atividades voltadas por diferentes usuários de diferentes faixas etárias, portanto nesses espaços convivem crianças, jovens, adultos e idosos. Quanto às atividades/funcionalidades, temos: circulação, lazer, contemplação, descanso, cultural, educacional, psicológica, estética e ambiental que varia de lugar para lugar. Assim, a pesquisa objetiva analisar as praças da pequena cidade de Juranda-PR, destacando a funcionalidade desses espaços públicos. O aporte metodológico foi constituído de pesquisa bibliográfica em periódicos científicos, livros, dissertações e teses sobre praças públicas; pesquisa in loco em duas praças com levantamento dos principais tipos de equipamentos e estruturas. Os resultados indicam que as funções ambiental, estética e social são as que predominam. Porém, a partir de fevereiro de 2020, a sociabilidade por parte do jurandenses nas praças tornaram-se praticamente nulas devido à pandemia do coronavírus, que obrigou a população ao isolamento social, deixando as praças totalmente vazias.
