Abstract
Cet article propose une analyse fondée sur une approche sémiotique des Exercices spirituels de saint Ignace de Loyola (1548). Après une mise en contexte historique et une proposition théorique générale sur la méditation dans le contexte chrétien, l’article se focalise sur l’analyse du dispositif défini par le livre ignatien, traité comme objet culturel capable de préfigurer des pratiques et des modalités de construction d’une forme de vie spirituelle. L’analyse intègre et retravaille des propositions de Michel Foucault et de Roland Barthes, en relisant en particulier l’analyse de ce dernier, pour identifier différents niveaux de pratiques et de textes prévus par le livre ignatien. L’article se termine en positionnant le dispositif ignatien dans une perspective historique de l’évolution de la spiritualité chrétienne occidentale.
