Abstract
Tandis qu’abondent les travaux consacrés aux filles de joie, leurs équivalents masculins semblent avoir été relégués dans la marge de l’histoire littéraire. À ce jour, aucune étude ni monographie ne retrace en effet l’évolution de ces personnages, apparus dès l’Antiquité. Bien avant leur entrée dans les dictionnaires français, ces « prostitués », comme nous les appellerions désormais, sont très présents dans la littérature, en particulier celle du XVIIIe siècle. En 1785, un texte anonyme intituléL’Année galante ou les intrigues secrètes du marquis de L***brosse le portrait de l’un de ces hommes entretenus aux dépens des femmes. Aussi reflète-t-il une figure historique, Armand Prévost de Létorière, ainsi qu’un fait social aujourd’hui méconnu : le « guerluchonnage », ancien témoignage d’une prostitution masculine au service de ces dames.
