Abstract
La mise en cause du programme du cours classique provient aussi du milieu scientifique québécois. Lors de son congrès de 1947, l’Association canadienne française pour l’avancement des sciences (ACFAS) organise un débat sur le nécessaire enseignement des sciences au secondaire. Le débat met en présence des universitaires (Léon Lortie, Adrien Pouliot) de facultés des sciences, des professeurs de sciences venant de collèges et le jésuite Armand Tanguay, alors préfet (directeur) des études au collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Ce débat enclenche aussi une discussion sur la place du grec ancien dans les études secondaires. Et, derrière le débat, se profilent les questions de la multiplication des voies d’accès à l’université et aussi de la formation des enseignants.
