The text exposes some of the actions carried outby the University of Chile in recent years, for the promotionand appreciation of artistic creation as academic production.The implementation of a Department of Artistic Creation in the Vice Presidency for Research and Development, amongother initiatives, seeks to promote artistic production andbroadens the priority areas in the generation of knowledgeof contemporary Latin American universities. In a context ofpolitical and social crisis in the region, the promotion ofartistic creation in the universities means a commitment tothe generation of critical, situated knowledge that promotestolerance, diversity and creativity, imagining new ways ofuniting and project our communities.
