Abstract
Dans sa critique du recueil Dead End de Monica Bolduc, Benoit Doyon-Gosselin remarque que la poésie acadienne connaît un « formidable renouvellement » qui repose en grande partie sur la qualité d’auteurs et d’autrices provenant de l’extérieur de Moncton. Il parle même d’une « revanche des régions » en se référant à la poésie de Jonathan Roy, Sébastien Bérubé et Georgette LeBlanc qui met en valeur les espaces régionaux de l’Acadie. C’est cette idée de « revanche des régions » qui est au coeur de cet article par l’étude de la représentation de la région du Madawaska dans la poésie de Sébastien Bérubé. Plus particulièrement, l’article explore comment la région de Bérubé négocie avec une représentation négative de l’espace régional qui s’apparente au « complexe de Kalamazoo », tel que défini par Pierre Nepveu. Si la région peut sembler à première vue comme un lieu gris, perdu dans la « boucane du moulin », vidée de sa substance humaine, Bérubé, par sa poésie, cherche à combler ce vide afin de présenter une image plus juste, plus humaine, de la région.
