Abstract
Cet article analyse les représentations sociales de la citoyenneté des enfants qu’ont des enseignant⋅e⋅s québécois⋅es du primaire engagé⋅e⋅s dans l’éducation à la citoyenneté démocratique des jeunes. À partir de leurs récits de pratique, nous analysons comment elles⋅ils construisent une représentation sociale de la citoyenneté des enfants différenciée de celle des adultes. À partir des thèmes émergeant des entrevues, nous avons identifié les dimensions à partir desquelles elles⋅ils se représentent la citoyenneté des enfants. Les dimensions du rôle de l’école, de l’autorité des adultes, de la socialisation par les pair⋅e⋅s, de l’agentivité politique des enfants et du changement social ont émergé des entretiens et donnent sens à la représentation qu’elles⋅ils se font de l’enfant et de sa place dans la société démocratique. Cet article contribue aux connaissances en sociologie de l’enfance et à ses applications en éducation à la citoyenneté démocratique.
