Abstract
Ayant pour objet la ville et les processus d’urbanisation, l’urbaniste mobilise, pour remplir sa mission, des savoirs et compétences disciplinaires variés (sociologie, économie, génie civil, sciences politiques, architecture urbaine, géographie, sciences de la gestion, etc.). Né en début de deuxième moitié du XIXe siècle dans le sillage des préoccupations hygiénistes et longtemps préoccupé par les questions de croissance, l’urbanisme est aujourd’hui convoqué sur le terrain d’une urbanisation généralisée et du développement durable. Ce qui a toutes les apparences d’un nouveau défi est en même temps un retour aux sources. Face à cette évolution récente des enjeux et des défis, comment et où se situe l’urbaniste québécois ?
