Abstract
La littérature s’est intéressée à l’acquisition et à la restauration de la légitimité organisationnelle, mais peu à son maintien. Cette étude conduite dans l’industrie aromatique montre comment les managers maintiennent la légitimité organisationnelle, autour de la question centrale de l’innocuité des arômes et parfums. L’analyse permet de montrer que ce processus s’élabore au sein d’un système de triangulation qui assoit la légitimité sur trois piliers - réflexif, réactif, et collectif, essentiellement par une adaptation isomorphe de type cognitif. L’étude révèle aussi que le maintien de la légitimité peut s’avérer tout aussi complexe et exigeant que l’acquisition et la restauration de légitimité.
