Abstract
Si les Mémoires du XVIe siècle. ont pu participer à l’affirmation de l’individu, ils ne donnent que peu à lire l’intimité de celles et de ceux qui les écrivent. Quelques objets domestiques permettent toutefois de cerner les modalités de délimitation réciproque de la sphère privée et de la sphère publique. L’article analyse deux exemples : les pantoufles du clerc de l’huissier Girard dans les Mémoires de Charlotte Duplessis-Mornay, le coffre d’Henri de Mesmes, évoqué dans les Mémoires de celui-ci.
