Abstract
La notion de mystère implique une forme d’expression dont le noyau commun s’organise autour des nuances sémantiques du secret, de l’énigme, de l’ombre, de la dissimulation, du silence, de l’incertitude et de l’inconnu. Le mystère intègre donc l’horizon de l’inconnaissable et de l’insondable, mais aussi une représentation affective qui, par son caractère inattendu, menaçant, étrange, irréel ou fantastique, crée une atmosphère énigmatique. Ce sont précisément les modes de fonctionnement des dispositions affectives, fondatrices d’une « atmosphère pathémique » de mystère, que je propose d’étudier dans cet article. En ce sens, j’entends mener ici une réflexion qui mettra en évidence les effets de sens passionnels très particuliers responsables d’une « ambiance » énigmatique, d’une « senteur » obscure, d’un « parfum » incertain qui peuvent émaner d’un texte. Dans ce contexte, il me semble nécessaire de rattacher l’émergence d’une atmosphère de mystère à un mouvement affectif, à une structure émotionnelle inextricablement liée au sujet sentant et percevant . Afin d’observer la dynamique des dispositifs pathémiques qui caractérisent la sphère affective du mystère, j’examinerai le conte « Le Pont » de Jacques Ferron.
