Le parcours de Lucia de Carvalho est emblématique des pérégrinations improbables réservées à ces populations qui sont le jouet de la géopolitique. L’Angola, le Portugal, la France et le Brésil forment les quatre piliers culturels de sa personnalité artistique solaire. Mais c’est par la simplicité, la prodigieuse capacité d’empathie et d’humanité qui nourrissent l’essence de son être que la chanteuse séduit, touche et convainc. Avec Pwanga, son troisième album, Lucia de Carvalho aborde la maturité d’une carrière qui lui sourit. En une décennie, elle a eu le courage de reconsidérer son enfance ballottée de pays en pays, de culture en culture, d’une famille monoparentale à une famille d’adoption, en passant par le foyer. Les aléas et le mystère de cette enfance chaotique l’ont conduite à forger un véritable atout au développement d’une personnalité solide, à l’altruisme hors du commun. Par sa capacité à écrire et à composer ses chansons, par la générosité optimiste de ses prestations scéniques, Lucia de Carvalho atteint la plénitude d’une vie assumée, qui illumine ses créations avant tout humanistes et populaires.
