Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Canada Chapter members elected new officers during the Annual Meeting in San Jose, California in August 2007. Current officers include: Chair, Karen Yee (University of Calgary); Vice-Chair, Terry Wheeler (McGill University); and Secretary, Sina Adl (Dalhousie University). Chapter members recognized the need for student representation during the San Jose meeting so Emilie Kissler (University of Sidney) kindly took on this position along side the officers. Additionally, two thirds of the members present during the San Jose meeting voted and accepted an amendment to the by-law regarding the Vice Chair's duties, which states that “The Vice-Chairperson shall serve for a term of two years and then assume the duties of the Chair for the following two years”. Third-year law student Holly Vear at the University of Calgary continues to provide material for the environmental policy bulletin board that was developed last year. A forum will soon be a new addition to the Chapter's web site thanks to an ESA Long Range Planning grant awarded to the Chapter in January 2008. This forum will enable communication among members of job opportunities, upcoming meetings, and provide a means of sharing ideas on the ecology of Canadian ecoregions. A database designer has been contracted to develop this forum, and the prototype will be available in October for testing. There are 171 individua Current treasury balance is $1829. The Chapter continuously seeks sponsorship opportunities.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
