Abstract

O presente artigo aborda um dos principais eixos temáticos da gestão institucional, sobretudo, da gestão escolar, a saber, o conceito de qualidade total em relação de interdependência com outro conceito bastante difundido no campo temático da administração escolar, qual seja, o conceito de qualidade social. Aqui, a pretensão analítica objetiva traçar um paralelo entre ambos no sentido de perceber as principais facetas dos conceitos supramencionados, bem como delimitar os alcances e limites desses conceitos na perspectiva dos autores referenciados ao longo deste texto, dentre os quais destacamos Sarmento e da Silva Alves (2017), Mainardes, Laval (2019), Lourenço e Tontini (2009), bem como Santos e de Oliveira (2016), além de Paro (1999; 2000) e outros autores igualmente relevantes dentro desse debate necessário. Para tanto, utilizou-se a metodologia qualitativa para análise dos dados obtidos em consulta bibliográfica. Dentre os principais resultados alcançados, destaca-se que a gestão da qualidade total é uma premissa interna às organizações institucionais e possui caráter sistêmico, sendo importante frisar que “qualidade total” está no campo da subjetividade, enquanto qualidade social seria, em tese, a materialidade desse conceito.
