Abstract

Ao celebrarmos o centenário de Paulo Freire, somos impulsionados a refletir sobre o seu legado. Em tempos de pandemia e de crescentes ataques contra a democracia e a justiça social, vemos a pedagogia crítica Freireana como uma possibilidade de compreender a realidade atual. Os conceitos Freireanos de situação-limite, ato-limite e inédito-viável proporciona lentes fundamentais na compreensão do mundo aos engajados nas lutas por processos democráticos mais justos. Analisamos a trágica história dos pensionatos indígenas no Canadá como situações-limite a serem superadas. As descobertas recentes de centenas de covas de crianças indígenas em torno desses pensionatos canadenses precisam ser confrontadas de forma coletiva na criação de atos-limite que possibilitam sonhar inéditos-viáveis e desenterrar a verdade e a busca ativa por reconciliação entre os povos indígenas e não-indígenas. Terminamos esse artigo com uma chamada à celebr-AÇÃO em que honramos o legado de Freire com ações que visam a humanização e a busca por um mundo mais justo e igualitário.
