Au fil des années, tant d’auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes ont été proclamés « troubadours modernes » que cela est devenu un véritable cliché. Pour citer quelques exemples flagrants de cette tendance, Bob Dylan serait le « troubadour américain suprême », Georges Brassens le « dernier des troubadours » et Billy Bragg le « troubadour gaucho ». Or, c’est peut-être l’auteur-compositeur-interprète québécois Leonard Cohen qui, plus que tout autre prétendant, peut se réclamer légitiment de ce titre...
