Texte tabli, prsent et annot par Dominique Willoughby avec la collaboration de Guy Fihman et Claudine Eizykman. Cette premire dition critique des textes et entretiens (une quarantaine) d 'Alexandre Alexeeff (1901-1982), indits ou devenus inaccessibles, rassemble l'essentiel de ses rflexions et contributions thoriques. Elle rvle quel point l'aventure singulire de cet artiste, dcorateur, illustrateur, graveur, cinaste inventeur de techniques nouvelles, s'est fonde sur une pense originale du cinma, de l'animation et des arts comme la gravure, la musique, la posie, la pantomime, la danse. Pendant plus de cinquante ans, des avant-gardes des annes 1920 aux dbuts du numrique, Alexeeff n'a cess d'innover dans le domaine de l'image, du livre au film, ralisant plusieurs chefs-d'oeuvre anims sur l'cran d'pingles de son invention, ou travaillant pour la publicit. Un ouvrage stimulant.
