Cet article est un chapitre traduit et extrait de There Is No More Haiti : Between Life and Death in Port-au-Prince. Greg Beckett y explore la manière dont la crise politique est ressentie et dont divers agents puissants « font le désordre ». Avec pour toile de fond la crise de 2004 qui a abouti à l’exil du président Jean-Bertrand Aristide et à l’arrivée d’une intervention militaire internationale, cet article montre comment les résidents urbains de Port-au-Prince ont utilisé le concept haïtien dezòd pour donner un sens à la crise politique, ressentie comme inéluctable et délibérément créée par des agents puissants cherchant à prendre le contrôle de l’État.
