Abstract
Créée en 2003 par Shonda Rhimes, la série médicale Grey’s Anatomy propose un modèle de conduite applicable dans la vie de tous les jours, quand bien même on n’est pas médecin. Ce modèle est celui du care – l’éthique de la sollicitude : si tout un chacun se souciait un peu plus d’autrui et incorporait un peu mieux la constatation selon laquelle on n’est rien sans les autres, le monde tournerait un peu plus rond. C’est ce qui fait de cette série une fiction votive . Cependant, l’aspect conséquentialiste du care impose à la série de se colleter avec le problème des fins – il faut savoir ce qui arrive « à la fin » pour évaluer la justesse d’une décision ou le bien-fondé d’un comportement... L’article explore trois aspects de cette question : (1) finir la série ; (2) faire disparaître un personnage pour des raisons réelles, liées à l’acteur qui l’incarne ; (3) finir un épisode.
