Abstract
Les interactions entre les peuples des Monts Mandara ont été marquées par un hégémonisme cyclique en faveur des groupes islamisés depuis le Jihad de 1806, qui a eu pour conséquence majeure la résistance des montagnards. Cet article explore les formes plurielles de remise en cause du legs colonial politico-culturel islamo-peul et français développées par les subalternes à Tokombéré entre 1984 et 2011. Ainsi, il établit que le recours à un vocabulaire endogène et le déni des langues des dominants (mandara, peul, français), pour qualifier le politique, traduit une rupture coloniale et le pouvoir des mots dans l’articulation de la contestation politique au Nord Cameroun. Il ressort de ce fait que l’énonciation politique des subalternes est plus perceptible à travers les innovations qui s’opèrent au ras du sol.
