Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Side scan sonars commonly encounter large gaps in the nadir region, without a convenient way to compensate for the lost area. Likewise, swath bathymetric sonars collect 3D images to both sides of the sonar but cannot connect the two sides of the image without missing data, therefore effectively reducing bilateral swath to unilateral. Described is a novel bilateral swath bathymetry system and method with angled fan-shaped beams for a gapless 3-D reconstruction of the sea bottom scene on port, starboard and in front of the underwater vehicle without incurring data losses in the nadir area. The sonar system contains two angled forward port and starboard interferometric acoustic arrays, each transmitting a fan-shaped beam and measuring the angles of arrival of the returned echoes with spaced acoustic elements.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
