Abstract
La présente étude s’intéresse à la place du statut urbain de la Provence des derniers siècles du Moyen Âge, dans l’ensemble plus vaste des strates normatives complémentaires ou concurrentes qui caractérisent le processus de son élaboration. Statuts produits par la commune ou par ses instances subordonnées, statuts produits au sein de la commune ou dispositions émanant des instances supérieures, toutes ces normes contribuent à la constitution d’une archive urbaine et d’un paysage documentaire marqués par des stratégies de médiation, d’appropriation et de conservation. L’ensemble de ces pratiques circonscrivent la marge de manœuvre de villes subordonnées à un pouvoir éminent dans la gestion de leur jus proprium.
