Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We report on the first search for electron-muon lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the decay of a $b$ quark and $b$ antiquark bound state. We look for the LFV decay $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}(3S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$ in a sample of 118 million $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}(3S)$ mesons from $27\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider operating with a 10.36 GeV center-of-mass energy. No evidence for a signal is found, and we set a limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}(3S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}]<3.6\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$ at 90% C. L. This result can be interpreted as a limit ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathrm{NP}}/{g}_{\mathrm{NP}}^{2}>80\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ on the energy scale ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathrm{NP}}$ divided by the coupling-squared ${g}_{\mathrm{NP}}^{2}$ of relevant new physics (NP).

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
