Abstract
Cet article, présenté sous forme d’un récit d’expérience, rend compte d’un projet en cours de déroulement dans une classe multiâge de 26 élèves d’une école primaire Montessori. Il consiste en la réalisation par les élèves d’une entrevue avec une personne âgée de leur famille et la rédaction d’un récit. Dans un premier temps, nous exposons la place de l’histoire orale préconisée par le programme d’univers social au primaire. Ensuite, nous faisons état du cadre théorique qui guide notre recherche et qui a trait à la pertinence et aux modalités de l’histoire orale dans l’enseignement de l’univers social, ainsi qu’aux distinctions entre le récit de vie et le récit historien. Dans un troisième temps, nous rendons compte du déroulement du projet et des premiers résultats. Ils concernent les apports possibles de ce type de démarche sur le plan de la motivation et des apprentissages en univers social.
