Abstract
Introduction of the Melody valve (Medtronic) as a means to replace a mitral valve has improved clinical outcomes in small children with critical mitral valve disease.1,2 The Melody valve is typically prepared by sewing a ring of bovine pericardial patch as a valve cuff with some form of wedge resection of the top of the stent to avoid left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.2 We reported our modified valve preparation technique using a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tube graft (W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc) as a sewing cuff.
