Lo sconosciuto sodalizio degli Sfaccendati e il ‘nuovo Parnaso’ di Stigliani. Prime ricerche sulla cultura accademica a Matera nel XVII secolo

Abstract
Si danno le prime notizie sull’Accademia degli Sfaccendati, operante a Matera intorno agli anni ’20 del XVII secolo. I dati relativi a questo organismo culturale, di cui si ignorava l’esistenza, sono stati raccolti a partire dal ritrovamento di un esemplare della commedia del materano Orazio Persio, Il mal marito (1623), di cui è significativo il corredo paratestuale, e dall’analisi di alcuni componimenti manoscritti dello stesso autore (Rime diverse, Matera, Biblioteca Provinciale “T. Stigliani,” MS 085). L’indagine cerca anche di individuare le ulteriori tappe della vita accademica materana: agli Sfaccendati subentrerà, negli anni ’30, una nuova accademia fondata da Tommaso Stigliani, rientrato per un certo periodo nella città d’origine. Più in generale, con la ricostruzione di alcuni contatti tra letterati e organi del potere, si fornisce un primo inquadramento della cultura accademica, delle manifestazioni teatrali e celebrative, del canone letterario e degli scambi in questa zona del Regno.
