Abstract
Il contributo si propone di analizzare due commedie di Italo Svevo, Inferiorità e l’Avventura di Maria, per fornire una nuova chiave di lettura per il teatro dell’autore triestino. La funzione comica di queste opere, il cui clima oscilla costantemente tra quello della pochade e quello del dramma, è data, infatti, da un particolare tipo di umorismo che scherza e gioca con la tematica della morte. I protagonisti, ingabbiati nel salotto-prigione in cui si trovano, saranno latori di un cinico e perturbante humour nero che permetterà loro di segnare una parziale vittoria nei confronti dell’imperturbabile mondo borghese.
