Abstract
The cover image comes from an artist in the Charlevoix region of Canada's French-speaking Qubec province. Charlevoix is north and west of Maine, where the Appalachians slope down to the St. Lawrence River. On the opposite bank, they rise up again with forest, scattered lakes, and small towns. The Isle aux Coudres, the Island of Hazelnut Trees, where Jimmy Perron was born and raised, lies a few miles offshore. No ordinary island, it bears the imprint of the universe, having been formed, along with the adjacent mainland, by a meteor strike from outer space.
