Abstract

Depuis l’apparition de Michel Houellebecq dans le milieu littéraire, la critique s’est efforcée de trouver les sources d’inspiration de l’auteur. De nombreux textes ont paru sur les liens de transtextualité existant entre son oeuvre et celles, entre autres, de Baudelaire, Ducasse ou Huxley. Étonnamment, très peu de critiques ont disserté sur l’apport considérable de Lovecraft à la pensée de Houellebecq. Pourtant, son premier ouvrage n’est autre qu’un essai laudatif consacré à cet écrivain américain. Cette première étude consacrée exclusivement aux liens entre ces deux auteurs se penchera sur les aspects thématiques et stylistiques de leurs visions eschatologiques respectives.
