Abstract
En tant que mode de communication, l’image tend progressivement à éclipser la parole et l’écriture. Le nouveau paysage médiatique qui s’installe ainsi modifie notre rapport au réel et façonne, voire manipule, les représentations collectives, parmi lesquelles celles qui portent sur la déviance. Cette thèse, qui est au cœur de la criminologie culturelle visuelle, encadre notre intérêt pour les productions cinématographiques dans lesquelles les images du crime prolifèrent. La présente contribution s’intéresse plus précisément à la présentation filmique de la déviance financière, sujet qui ne mobilise que peu les politiques malgré les crises successives qu’elle engendre. Nous montrons ainsi comment le contenu de onze blockbusters hollywoodiens façonne une représentation de la transgression financière qui suggère un message socio-politiquement peu mobilisateur, et qui dès lors participe à la perpétuation de l’ordre social. Pour ce faire, l’exploration de leur scénario, mise en scène et techniques filmiques est rapportée au modèle « naming-blaming-claiming » (nommer, blâmer et revendiquer) de Felstiner et al.
