Le second roman d’A. Roy se distingue entre autres raisons par le grand nombre et l’éclectisme apparent de ses références intertextuelles et intermédiales. Cet article analyse un certain nombre de ces références et tente de démontrer qu’elles fécondent et enrichissent le travail créatif de Roy, l’aidant à assembler une structure faite de connexions multiples et subtiles, et à trouver une langue littéraire originale pour exprimer ses convictions personnelles, en particulier son espoir de contrer la violence des identités réduites à l’extrême et essentialisées.
