Abstract
Se describe y analiza la manera en que un grupo de niños y niñas de una comunidad ñähñu (otomíes del Valle del Mezquital, Hidalgo, México) participa y colabora en diferentes eventos cotidianos en la casa, la fiesta comunitaria y la escuela. La discusión señala que su proceder caracteriza un modo propio de obedecer las órdenes/indicaciones que reciben de sus padres, los adultos y otros niños, pero también se trata de una forma activa de involucrarse en un contexto sociocultural en el que los demás son parte importante. Se argumenta que la obediencia en este contexto indígena se puede comprender, no como sumisión ante la voluntad vertical de quien manda, sino como una práctica situada donde los niños y niñas se dejan llevar para formar parte de su comunidad.
