Abstract
Grant Allen was a stunningly prolific freelance writer who wrote during the final decades of the Victorian period. Allen is now remembered primarily for his scandalous, New Woman, eugenics‐themed novel The Woman Who Did (1895), but he also composed works in almost every popular genre of the age, including detective fiction, scientific romance, popular science journalism, and tourist guides. Allen's writing is often concerned with ideas from evolutionary biology, heredity theory, and the new physiological psychology, and his fiction repeatedly considers degeneration, atavism, eugenics, and sexual selection. His work is of interest in tracing the interactions between science and literature in the late nineteenth century.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
