Musik gilt landläufig als Sprache des Gefühls.Und sicherlich geht es auch der Neuen Musik darum, neue Ausdruckswerte zu finden, statt eingeschliffene Ausdruckwerte im Rahmen eines erfolgversprechenden Schemas lediglich zu reproduzieren.Darin kann ein genuin produktiver Aspekt der Neuen Musik gesehen werden.Es griffe jedoch zu kurz, den Anspruch Neuer Musik ausschließlich im Emotionalen zu verorten; andererseits wird eine Reduktion auf reine Rationalität der Neuen Musik auch nicht gerecht.Als Praxis stellt sie eine Form sich musikalisch artikulierender Vernunft und daher musikalischer Phronesis 1 dar.Sie fragt 1 Der Begriff der Phronesis bedeutet übersetzt soviel wie praktische Klugheit und meint hier -im Sinne Aristoteles -den Versuch, einen abwägenden und beratenden Umgang mit der Kontingenz zu finden.Der hier zu Grunde gelegte
