This work is concerned with free conservative oscillators with a single-term power-form nonlinearity. An overview of a variety of special functions that one can use to express the period as well as an exact or approximate solution for motion of these oscillators is given. First, it is demonstrated that several approaches with different special functions (hyperbolic functions, gamma function, beta function, Pochhammer symbols, etc.) lead to the same expression for the period of motion. Then, it is shown how one can use Lyapunov functions, Ateb functions and Jacobi elliptic functions to express the corresponding solution for motion.
