Abstract
Abstract Shared services is a term that denotes (i) a management idea and (ii) a service‐providing organizational entity. As a management idea, shared services can broadly be defined as a best practice that focuses on consolidating common services within an organizational context to share these services rather than internally duplicating them. As an organizational entity, shared services is a service‐providing entity. Historically, this entity has been referred to as the Shared Service Center ( SSC ).
