Abstract
Les comités de surveillance, organes d'exception institutionnalisés par le gouvernement révolutionnaire en réponse à une demande collective, jouent un rôle important dans la circulation de l'information. En rapport avec plusieurs sources d'autorités : le district, le représentant en mission et, à Paris, le Comité de salut public et le Comité de sûreté générale, ils participent à l'interaction entre le centre et la province et à la structuration nouvelle de l'espace politique. Dans le Sud-Est, les comités de surveillance des communes sont un des piliers du pouvoir local et ils contribuent à la découverte de la loi par les catégories populaires.
