Abstract
Lemierre's syndrome is an illness characterized by anaerobic septicaemia, jugular vein thrombophlebitis and septic embolization following an oropharyngeal infection. The majority of cases are caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum. The full clinical picture may vary depending on the site(s) of septic emboli. The incidence has decreased with the advent of antibiotics but mortality remains high if patients are left untreated. We present a case and discuss the clinical and radiological features of the syndrome, along with considerations for patient management.
