O presente artigo visa explorar um estudo de caso realizado em Portugal junto de um grupo de professores do 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico do grupo disciplinar da Educação Visual e Tecnológica, cuja análise se centra, por um lado, na compreensão das alterações ocorridas na atividade de trabalho e constrangimentos vivenciados perante mudanças no ensino implementadas a nível nacional e, por outro lado, na identificação de estratégias de regulação desenvolvidas pelos professores. Com base no trabalho de campo realizado (entrevistas individuais, análise da atividade, análise documental) evidenciam-se alterações e constrangimentos, derivados das mudanças, tanto na atividade dos professores (e.g. aumento da carga de trabalho) como na sua saúde (e.g. cansaço, ansiedade, desânimo). Para fazer face aos constrangimentos sentidos, os professores desenvolveram estratégias de regulação individuais, mas também coletivas, demonstrando-se o efeito protetor e de suporte que o coletivo assumiu na continuidade do trabalho e na preservação da saúde destes professores.
