Abstract
Im Kreis der Kulturwissenschaften ist die Archäologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit ein wenig beachtetes Mitglied, da sie mit ihren materiellen Quellen für aktuelle kulturwissenschaftliche Debatten nur wenig relevant erscheint.Ziel meines Beitrages ist es zu zeigen, dass die Archäologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit sehr wohl in der Lage ist, eigene Aspekte in die Diskussion einzubringen.Dabei wird aber auch deutlich, dass unterschiedliche Vorstellungen von Kultur und Kulturgeschichte den Dialog ebenso erschweren wie Defizite in den Methoden der Synthese unterschiedlicher Quellen.
