In this paper an analytical solution procedure for the truly nonlinear oscillators is developed. The approximate solution is forced to satisfy certain requirements of the exact amplitude, frequency and maximal velocity value of vibration. The solution is assumed in the form of a Jacobi elliptic function whose parameters, modulus and frequency, are calculated based on these requirements. The suggested method of solution is applied to both the truly nonlinear oscillator with additional nonlinear deflection and small linear damping force and to the Van der Pol oscillator. Numerical examples are also considered. The obtained analytical solutions are compared with numerical ones and are found to be in good agreement.
